DIY & Crafts: Adorable DIY Canvas Creations

Hey all you paint night Picassos and crafter’s, have I got some super simple canvas DIY’s to show you! The other day I was in my local Dollar Tree and came across their HUGE selection of paint canvases! They carry such a great assortment, plus they have so many paints, paint brushes, and other craft accessories to choose from that the possibilities are endless. I decided to get crafty and create a few different pieces for my home, so check out my 2 canvas creations below!

1. DIY Farmhouse Reverse Canvas Sign

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • 6×8″ Stretched White Canvas (or whichever size you prefer)
  • Hot Glue Gun (Not Sold at Dollar Tree)
  • Hot Glue Sticks
  • Acrylic Paint (Black and Brown)
  • Paint Brushes
  • Water
  • Utility Knife

Time to Get Crafty!

  1. To being with, I turned my canvas around so that the backside of the canvas was facing upward. I then took my utility knife and cut the canvas off of the wood frame.
  2. I then turned my wood frame back around so that the side with the staples was now on the backside.
  3. Next, I combined brown paint with water and applied it to my wood frame to give it a rustic feel.
  4. Then, I laid my canvas (painting side up) flat on a table and hot glued my frame (the side with the staples) and applied it to the canvas so that the frame covered the entire canvas.
  5. I let the hot glue dry for about 30 minutes and then using my utility knife, I cut the excess canvas away from the wooden frame.
  6. The, using black paint, I painted “Let’s Stay Home” however, feel free to add whatever message you would like!

Display your chic DIY farmhouse canvas décor in your home or make as a gift for someone special!

2. Geometric Glitter Canvas

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • 8×10″ Stretched White Canvas (or whichever size you prefer)
  • Mod Podge®
  • Acrylic Paint (Green, Black, White, and Brown or whichever colors you prefer)
  • Paint Brushes
  • Gold Glitter
  • Adhesive Paper Craft Tape

Let Paint and Craft Night Commence!

  1. I started by using my adhesive paper craft tape to create a geometric design on my canvas.
  2. Then, I alternated using different paint colors within the geometric designs. I even used Mod Podge® and put gold glitter on it in a few of the designs.
  3. Next, I let my paint and glitter dry for about an hour or so before removing the adhesive craft tape. *Note: Don’t let the paint dry completely before pulling off the craft tape because it could take some of the dry paint with it.
  4. I continued to let the paint and glitter dry over night.

There you have it… a simple and easy DIY canvas idea to display in your home or give as a gift!
